Baxter Roofing - Mississauga, Oakville - AVOID

Anyone thinking of doing business with this company should be careful. They are quick to take your money but try getting warranty service. They become very unprofessional and abusive.

They claim to have a 'wind damage' clause that any damage due to wind damage is not covered in their warranty. They will blame any damage on the wind and tell you that it's not covered.

We had a roof installed less than four years ago. Over the winter a couple of the singles flew off and landed in the front lawn. We called them and the owner or sales person named Kyle said he would come over and have a look. He never did. We kept calling and he kept saying "I will come over or send someone over" - never did. Finally, he refused to come over or repair the roof under warranty claiming it was the infamous "Wind Damage".

He became abusive, would not take any of our calls - very unprofessional.

We had to call a roofing repair company. They found out that one of the vent holes was covered over with shingles !!! And that's why the singles were coming off.

We had to install a new vent and repair the roof and the cost was $250.

We called Kyle again to explain that it was not the "Wind Damage" that was causing the shingles to come apart - it was the fact they did not install the Vent and just shingled over it. He refused to accept this and became very abusive again - telling me about how good his lawyer is.

I would recommend that before you do any business with this company - check them out with the Better Business Bureau, the Small Claims Court files and check the web for references.

I hope other will join this Blog and expose this company for what they really are - a bunch of unprofessional thugs.

  1. Yes, you are right this baxter roofers are thief. They did my roof 4 years ago and now its falling apart. I informed them about the problem and told me that: "its because of wind damage and you have to pay 250 dollars to fix it, by the way I have a meeting, call me back again".
I'm feed-up calling them every day leaving message because they dont answer back. My roof might get damage more if i will wait for them. Shame on this baxter (busted)roofing co.

  2. Ok This is Kyle from Baxter Roofing.

First of all if you look in your warranty package in your Baxter Folder this is what it says.

"Warranty may be voided in suspected cases of Vandalism,Natural Disasters,Neglect and/or sabotage. No warranty or guarantees given unless stated above. Baxter Roofing will not be liable for any damages or loses incurred to the owner or tenant as a result of carrying
    out this work.

    Second of all

We told you from the start to upgrade to the 30yr shingle because it has a better wind rating.

This year we have seen more strong winds then any other year. If you put your self in our shoes how can we stay in business if we had to fix everyone's roof after a major wind storm with winds clicking in at 170 km an hour.
The shingles you have on your roof are only good for 90km winds.

With that said hopefully you can remove your blog as it is bad for our business.

If there is anything i can do i would love to help you if your willing to play fair game.
so far it does not seem like you are.

Please contact anyone at our head office and we would be willing to explain this to you once again.

  3. Baxter Roofing is now BAXTOR Roofing. Same company. Looks like they might be hiding something. Take a look at their site www.baxtorroofing.ca, same as their old brochures. Wonder why change their name, especially to something sounding similar. Also never seen so many (8) roofer one roof at one time.

    Beware!!!!!!!!

  4. Hi my name is Cory Benoit and i am the owner of Unionized Contracting Roofing Division and i am a local MIssissauga roofer. I have heard many complaints about Baxtor Roofing and fixed many of their mistakes. If anybody is looking for an honest reliable roofing company feel free to take a look at our website: www.RoofInspection.ca and check us out with the Better Business Bureau.

  6. I also had my roof done by Baxtor in May 2010. A week later a had a visitor in my attic. Is it merely a coincidence that I've never heard a squirrel in my attic until after a new roof was put on? Doubtful. After chasing the squirrel around my soffit, he finally poked his head out and I could find where he was getting in. I immediately called Kyle to tell him this. I got the same promise that he would come look at it....It's now the end of August and I'm still waiting...
To be fair, I sat on the roof and watched the work being done. It looked good to me. But the service after.... BEWARE!

  9. Well here is another one to add to Baxters roof of shame. Have just noticed the whole ridge of shingles have been blown off. Roof done in 07. Company seems to have disappeared all numbers disconnected. I noticed Kyles comment about 30 year shingles above. Well thats what was installed. So Kyle If your out there i look forward to your comment and new contact number and company name if your the stand up guy you portray yourself to be. To anyone looking for a roof run if you see his name associated with any other company.

  10. Unfortunately Kyle is more interested in these tops (www.missbikinicanada.com runs this) instead of your roof tops.

  13. I had my roof done a while back, and its actually holding up really good thanks to Baxter Roofing. They actually did half the roofs on our street and everybody is very happy with their work. It's unfortunate how a few roten apples can spoil a whole batch. When you are dealing with natural elements such as high winds, it is only obvious that there will be problems such as shingles blowing off roofs. Just thought I'd throw in my two cents because i think Kyle deserves it.

  14. Hey Guys its Kyle from Baxter Roofing It's been a while since i have seen this Blog. I don't understand why all you guys have hidden profiles and no physical address. It's obvious I can not win this wind damage war so i have decided to refund your money for any repairs that you have had done. All i ask is that you tell me who you are so we can come to a mutual agreement about a refund. Please call me 416-917-0037 Kyle Baxter Roofing

  15. Maybe you guys are right about the vent holes. Sometimes if we are short a vent the guys will put an upside down tab and forget to tell me about it. Its not like they would shingle over a vent hole that is insane and very dangerous for someone walking on the roof. If we said it was wind damage its because we would have recieved 10 or more complaints than yours within that same week which would make it obvious to us that it is wind damage our repair guy might have just done a drive by your house rather than a full inspection due to the volume of complaints. If you guys are saying someone came out to notice a vent hole with an upside down tab or a tab on your front lawn i do appologize and i would love to rufund your money for the repair. This blog has forced me to shut down Baxter Roofing and its really unfortunate to me and my family since we built the business from the ground up hopefully you guys can understand where i am comming from. When a big wind storm hits and multiple customers that dont speak english are screaming come fix my wind damage it can get very stressfull and it is very difficult to explain to people they need to call there insurance or pay us a service fee to fix it. I have learned with my experiance that three tab shingles are the worst for this cause the sides of the tabs do not seal this is why these days most people are putting on tab less shingles like 30 yr Biltmore. Once again i do apologize and hope you can understand we really did not mean any harm it must have been looked over. please call me and we can work it out 416-917-0037

  16. Id also like to add that if you were to ask another reputable roofing company they would agree that during the winter months in 2008 and 2009 the industry recorded more wind damage during that period in over 20yrs. Then you might understand our situation a little better.

  17. Just came across you bog and we were very supprised to read the negative comments regarding Baxter Roofing. We had Baxter Roofing come to our home in 2008. They quoted us a price and unlike other roofing companies they were honest to tell us that our roof did not need immediate work done but would hold up for another couple of years. Unlike other roofing companies that were called and stated that unless we get our roof done immediately we would suffer the consequences the coming winter, such as leaks or plywood damage. We decided to take Baxter's advice and waited until the summer of 2009 to have the work completed. Baxter was very efficient, and best of all honoured the same price that was quoted more than a year earlier. This again was not the case with other roofing companies that were contacted. We would not hesitate to recommend Baxter roofing because of our positive experience and their quality workmanship. As a final note many of our neighbours have used Baxter roofing as well and seem to be very happy with their work.

  19. Kyle tries to own 5 companys at one time. why is that? i guess he can't get it right on one. He is a subcontractor. He subs all his work out and when something comes up he blames it on the wind. Give me a brake Kyle you give a 10 year workmanship warranty but what good is it if you don't even replace one shingle. What someone's home has to fall on them then you will come help them lol. your warranty should include any roofing issues that may come up after all you did the roof right. Tell us what your warranty covers please tell us Kyle.

  28. Hey its Kyle its funny that you guys keep deleting my post. I would just like to add we have done more roofs than Cory has put down nails with one unhappy customer. Its really unfortunate that CBC left out a lot of they key points during our interview especially the Part when i mentioned Cory is a Crack Head !!! Or when i mentioned what really happen with Mike Pollek.
Its terrible that the media needs to twist things just to keep our country entertained. As for fake profiles did you take a hit off the can before you wrote that one because the only profiles that actually exist in this blog are the ones that say Good things about us LOL. If i wanted i could put up over 1000 good reviews here but what is the point ? How many complete roofs have you done Cory? stick to the wind damage repairs because thats what your good at. i am also curious to know how Mike paid $1500 dollars to put on one bundle and a 10 ft piece of flashing? Ill never understand that one. If it wasn't for Mike Pollek hiring our Chimney guy behind our back we would have loved to finish the roof for him, and yes mike my lawyer is gonna sue you. This way i will have my justice so that i can move on.

  29. Kyle you live in a dream world iv been roofing for over 15 years of on the job experience, iv done thousands of homes. You ant got nothing on me and for you calling me a crack head you know better then that never touched the shit, you and your crews on the other hand well lets just say iv heard some things. Grow up you little boy your a con and mean nothing to me so keep my name out of your vocabulary unless your looking to get sued. I will be emailing this to my lawyer to see what we can do.

  30. And for Mikes House it was leaking in 3 spots, there was 3 chimney to be reflashed and all new front flashing has well. So figure that one out you hack.

  32. Thats funny that Kyle is being grilled finally for shitting roofing. I grew up with Kyle and another friend that use to roof. I use to be a crackhead and a junkie and use to smoke crack well working on roofs for Kyle and there were many other crackheads as well. This was like 7 years ago so i dont know what type of workers hes dealing with now. I remember how shaddy all the jobs were done and also witnessed this company ripping of people. Mostly the elderly that cant come up on a ladder to check out the job!!! This is a shady company for sure people!!

    ReplyDelete
  33. Hey lance i am not aware of who you are but you are among the rest of the hidden profiles on this Blog. I just would like to add that i have never hired any roofers that do CRACK! And i have never taken advantage of any elderly people. I am a good person and it is unfortunate this blog put Baxter out of business. Like i said before i could put over 1000 good reviews here but there is no point so please guys give it up already. Peace

And a roofer would never show up at your door in a suit so beware of the salesmen because they will not sell you the best service for you, they will sell you what leaves more money in their pocket! www.mississauga-roofing.ca
